this is not the first time I encountered this type of story where we get different moments at random times, mostly stories that show us about the nature of a relationship (ex. heated rivalry with the time jumps) we get to see how the evolution of their relationship and how they ended up the way they are now and how much their personalities changed as well towards each other. but this is different, we get to see their relationship span randomly at random times. it seems confusing at first but I think it's a unique way of telling us the nature of their relationship
