Actually, he isn't trying to change him here. The ML really believes that the bottom is an omega. As you can see, the MC somehow can smell the ML's pheromones which shouldn't be possible if he's really a beta. And it hasn't been shown yet but the ML can actually pick up a faint omega scent from the MC. So when he see someone who reacts to his pheromones and also has an omega scent but doesn't get wet like an omega should when aroused? it makes him so confused and baffled. It just doesn't make sense to him.

There's actually a chapter in the novel after they had their first sex where he was having a full on existential crisis and talking to someone on the phone about the fact that he knotted while having sex with a beta and said beta ( who is the MC) survived it and had no lasting injuries. Apparently when a golden alpha knots in an omega, it can basically put the omega in a hospital for a few days not to talk of a beta. If a golden alpha knots in a beta, it can actually kill them or give them a long lasting illness at best. But the MC was fine and up the very next day which is making the ML question what the fuck even is he and how he's able to take it like a chap. Mind you, him knotting while having sex with the MC was an unconscious. He absolutely lost control while having sex with the MC which has never happened before. He was trembling and panicking thinking he killed the bottom afterwards ╮(￣▽￣)╭

And from what I’ve read online the ML is not only a golden alpha but like a “ghost alpha” or smth and can turn betas into omegas, I suppose that’s what he was doing in this chapter, drenching him in pheromones to see if his body would react as an omega.
But apparently the MC won’t know the ML is making him an omega so it’s basically without his consent (shockingly I know). But I’m still interested to see where this is going (〜￣△￣)〜
