I'm getting an uncanny feeling from the writing (or translation, whichever one it is). I'm using Chapter 1 as ref here.
It keeps using the rule of threes (which AI does a lot). EX: "The light, the breeze, people's laughter..." "Long. Bright. And it feels safe." "Say it fast. Say it normal. Don't give him time to think."
Some of the sentences also have weird quotation marks throughout the entire which I can't make sense of? There's also one or two instances of there being parallel sentences, "not X, but Y" and double-repetition sentences, like AI generates. EX:
"My steps never hesitate. Not because I'm certain. But because stopping feels more frightening." "His too was flat. Too flat for a casual remark." "But Darren knew. He always did."
Maybe I'm tripping, but either way, it gives me some level of AI-generation or assistance vibes.
