i feel like the author already wrote a scene where Shinpei's crying over Satoko's letter and was planning to end the manga with her dying, but changed it to 50 years of separation instead.
in some panel, Satoko did age, we can see her wrinkly hands hugging Shinpei, and when Shinpei first discovered her inside the house (her cheek was kinda wrinkly)
eh, but this is just in my opinion. imma make my own headcanon where they both grow old together and have lots of children
yeah i guess my doubts on the actual ending are whether its truly her and shes been alive all along or if hes just close to death and imagines her if she were still alive and got to grow old.
first option feels weird just cause really no one could get in touch with him and let him know? not even the rich man?
but im accepting it as sorta open so we each believe whatever we prefer

the tears rolled back up into my eyes
what the fuck was that ending? i genuinely dont get it can someone explain it to me like, is it real or did he die and its a metaphor or smth
