The reason for taking over her family and controlling her must be something to do with the dude's background as a war orphan. But maybe that topic will be expanded as the story progress.
Probably…maybe about politics too, Yenno? Most likely the higher ups had a say about him being an orphan, and he might’ve had a few episodes of outburst/rage. Since he achieved the knight title then too, probably didn’t want him to be close to FL.

Was he jealous too? Like was she engaged with someone that time or something? And he snapped?
