I’m starting to feel a little hopeless about these two.
Delusionally, I believe that Brett has never experienced pure love in any form—neither from his family nor from a romantic partner. He has also never shown genuine interest in others until Hayden came along and turned his world upside down. Now, he has to face the repercussions of wanting to love and be loved after never really having that before. Just last season, we saw how he put a dead animal in his brother’s bed because he liked that animal. He couldn’t understand why someone who loves a particular animal wouldn’t want to see it dead. Then, during what was supposed to be a cute trip to the in-laws with his boyfriend, he was raped and pissed on. An effect to something he caused.
I don’t believe for a second that Brett is a violent psychopath. He reacts emotionally to everything he believes in, which leads to many of his problems. Every time he attempts to be normal, various obstacles—like his father or random enemies—get in the way of his growth. I understand Hayden’s frustration; he wants to adore someone who doesn’t think they have the capacity to be adored. I’d like to believe that Brett truly misses Hayden and wants him by his side because Hayden is the only one who truly understands him. However, it’s going to take hard work and perseverance that I’m not sure Hayden can muster to the level he did before Brett’s assault.
Realistically, it seems the author was offered a longer serialization of a pretty decent story and didn’t know how to proceed, leaving us all to suffer the consequences.
You basically summarized brett’s feelings in the raws through his behaviors. It lead hayden to come to a decision/conclusion in the recent raws and delusionally, im excited to see the end. The author truly wanted to write the story longer but probably couldn’t.(/TДT)/
