I personally think that MC would certainly be the hyung. Of course MC had bad memories of his childhood days because of everyone treating him as a ghost because of his Yin energy but as we saw with the ML, just being next to each other makes them feel better already, so maybe they met at one point, and felt great about each others and became friends. Then one day an accident happened when MC drowned and ML couldn't help him. MC got amesia and they lost contact..
ML mentioned that he spend some years in the States (I don't remember how many years exactly) but maybe he had to leave abruptly

I don’t think the mc is the hyung because in mc past u can see he was defined as the lonely gloomy kid, where he had no friends, and if he were the hyung then the mc’s would of had a recollection of having at least that one experience of having one friend
