"this is not a yaoi!!!" "this is not a bl!!!" i dont wanna be that guy but hear me out. this manhwa has been tagged and marketed as a bl and idk why people are still denying it until today.

i think we need to agree that bl is such a diverse genre and it's meaning has changed over the years. like i think people aren't calling it a bl because it's actually well-written and that it's not similar compared to the slop psychological bls like revenge, that one sadistic beauty side story, obey me, etc. because if the leads were a guy and a girl, this shit would be considered dark romance. because come on. even if it doesn't contain the textbook definition of romance, there is still feelings involved, and that is yoonbum having this infatuation towards sangwoo that just developed into an unhealthy obsession. and we can see how the stockholm syndrome developed throughout the chapters. and there are plenty of bls that have this shit.

the only thing that killing stalking did that most bls didn't do was the fact that they didn't glorify the whole victim and offender relationship. it's because it's

"oh yeah but sangwoo is straight!!!!!"

then he should've killed yoonbum in the basement at the start. and the whole story literally revolved around sangwoo and yoonbum. brother how is that considered straight.

let's be real here. they are just good complex characters that people don't wanna see them get together because of how fucked up the story is. then in that logic, shouldn't other fucked up bl stories not count as bl? should obey me even count as bl when literally both of the supposed leads aren't even gonna get together in the end? oh it's bc it's literally toxic. but there are plenty of other toxic bls that are considered bls because of how badly written they are!!! shouldnt no reason or unchanged man not be considered a bl ??????

please im curious why people dont consider it as a bl

Him being straight does not take from KS being yaoi. Yaoi is a very broad demography, unfortunately in the west they decided to translate it to the word boys love, that implies in people's mind that yaoi would be the same as queer media where the men need to have feelings for each other.

i agree except for the fact that it’s not a yaoi, idk why everyone on the internet is calling Korean bl’s “yaoi”. That term is (well technically ‘was’ since it’s an outdated term now) used in Japanese media only. Not once have I ever seen a Korean author call their work a yaoi ( ̄へ ̄)

Yaoi is the same as bl, that is the ""translation"" the western sites use. It is the same thing, unfortunately they used a word that implies love for it what makes people confused in a way they word yaoi does not. Yaoi is not outdated in Japan, it is still in use and still a term that warps well this demography, the problem is people thinking yaoi and bl are a genre and not similar to shoujo and seinen that are a demography. No one has an issue when a violent work between two men is labeled yaoi, but people have this issue when it is labeled bl even tho bl is simple the word the korean companies chose to put in the place of it. If KS was japanese it would be under yaoi tag, there are several yaoi similar to it. Simple as that

The place where it differs enough is China with danmei, but bl korean works and yaoi japanese works are extremely close demography wise.

same goes for romance or thee genre for the predominantly straight stuff.. like there can be so much fucked up elements in a romance novel, manhwa or whatever,,,,, and it's still gonna be considered a dark romance.. LMAO.
