I think it was said in early chapters that he met Ailette before the plot starts which is the start of his regression. So he'll remember ailette every regression, but he'll only meet Ailette in the 17th regression timeline. That worried Ailette because she knows if he looks for her every regression, he'll be confused because she does not exist in every timeline except the 17th regression.
