Consider her mental health and how she was treated her whole life; zero friends, abusive husband, manipulative brother and step mother, absent father, condescending maids, and society as a whole thinking she’s both stupid and crazy. If she didn’t create an imaginary friend/alternate persona she’d have gone absolutely bonkers, she’s honestly incredible for being as mentally strong as she is, and it’s no wonder she created Cal from the first person she met.
The revelation that Cal is an idealized version of Callios she created to deal with reality is clearly approaching, with Callios asking questions about her friend and she’s definitely going to be caught talking to someone who isn’t actually there. I’m hoping it’ll be Ramia, Granada, or Callios, because there’s a good chance she’s going to extremely second-guess her sanity when she finds out.
Mmmm I hear ya and I can rationalize all the variables and such but I've stopped give authors the benefit of doubt when it comes to kid obsession povs like in the early 2010s.
