Hey! As I stated...I wonder if it is just me or anyone have the same issue..ever since I started reading yaoi, I can't no longer read shoujo manga...like it cringes me alot...I become so picky to what I'm going to read for that genre...is there anyone face the same problem?

I have a problem with a lot of shoujo - them seem to depict such stereotypical weak and helpless girls whose main goal is to catch a husband (at least the ones I have read, they are like Harlequin romances for teens, with plenty of panty and cleavage shots. Some, however are not bad.

    Saaaaaaaaaame.....guess it's life

It depends on the character's personalities. I find weak willed, overly sensitive, easily fooled women/girls rather annoying... But that annoyance also applies to men/boys with those character traits. Still.... Once I start to read something, unless it completely blows the top of my head off, I am compelled to read until the end.

Try stuff by Naked Ape - their characters are all pretty great, male and female, and Adekan by Tsujiki Nao

The only one i'll tolorate is Skip Beat. The Mc is hillarious! And i love her to death (๑•ㅂ•)و✧ first straight ship would be kyoko X Ren!~♡ I LUV EM!!

Nope, you are definitely the only one. Like Transient Metaphysics said, it depends on the character's personalities. For example, the Yona at the beginning of the Akatsuki no Yona irritates me. I'd never continue watching/reading it if she hadn't all those important character developments. And now it's one of my favourites ლ(´ڡ`ლ) But since there are not many anime/manga with strong female leads like Akatsuki no Yona, now the number of shoujo I'm interested is only a few.

I started reading shoujo when I was like 10 and ever since I started yaoi it is true shoujo can be hard to read but thats because there are a lot of bad ones. I still love shoujo though, sometimes you gotta take the time to find the gem. I love romaaaance. I recommend Something About Us by Lee Yunji, My ID is Gangnam Beauty by Gi Meng-Gi, and Strobe Edge by Sakisaka Io. I prefer it when the main character isn't annoying or stupid so that's what I look for.

I'm picky on the plot and main character traits. I wouldn't mind if it's shoujo. If it has an interesting plot and the main girl isn't some weak willed "I can't stand up for myself" I would give it a try. I admit I read mainly yaoi but now and then, I get sick of the same yaoi plots too so I read occasional shoujo and shounen.

    Kawaii~Whale August 21, 2017 6:35 am

I do. I feel as though shoujo is the more upbeat, romantic love a first sight type. I don't like that, I don't like how it is fantasy like. Plus I get second-hand embarrassment, definitely yaoi over shoujo but that is my opinion.

    Josuke August 21, 2017 6:39 am

This is actually the same for me as well. After I got into BL everything changed. I don't really care for shoujo all that much anymore because the majority of them are about middle school/ high school girls, and I found myself unable to connect or relate to the chracters. I basically outgrew the genre. However, I do read josei manga from time to time though.

    usachanman August 21, 2017 7:12 am

The reason for that is 90% of shoujo mangas are clones of each other and a bomb of cliches but there is 10% that might cater to your taste. The problem is that its like finding a needle in a haystack. Σ( ̄□ ̄||)

I still have some I like but the amount with love triangles is just too damn high. I'd prefer more Asaba (Kare Kano) or Suna (Ore Monogatari) types where the other guy stays a loyal friend to the main characters.

    Shizaya__ August 21, 2017 9:02 am

Exactly the same I can't read the shoujo manga anymore I used to read it before getting into yaoi but after discovering yaoi I feel disgusted by shoujo and want to see boyxboy instead of boyxgirl

    Jaz August 21, 2017 9:38 am

That's because shoujo's target audience is young girls. Try josei
