It then would be like with characters from spin off, where (if I remember correctly) mc was told by kaoru that after they cut red thread it will reconnect to someone's else who does not have theirs connected (like hara before). Also it was said here that thread does not make you love someone, it just makes you meet often and have meaningful happenings together. So it was not really about her not having a fated partner with whom she would surely be happy, but more about how hara might be unhappy
Even if Hara san was the only red thread for her, wouldn't it be shitty to force HIM to break up with his own lover and start dating her? He didn't want to date her. You should always consider both parties in a relationship.
Also like the above comment mentioned, you don't need your red thread to connect to have a happy ending.
(Also breaking up a couple that is currently in love because you think somebody is the only person for you is known as homewrecking)
The fact is that if no one had known about the red thread, the two would probably have grown closer, ever closer, as fate naturally wanted.
Only the knowledge of the existence of the red thread made the fact that they met so often seem like simple coincidences.
I would also like to clarify that I am happy for the main couple, I love them but I don't think it's right that every time a woman is depicted in a BL manga, she is portrayed as a family wrecker.
The fact is that she is actually NOT portrayed as a family wrecker in this manga. Rather she is shown to be a very capable career woman and VERY respectful of Hara-san. She even leaves of her own initiative when she finds out that Hara-san is meeting with his lover.
Also it doesn't matter if it's a BL, multiple straight comics show a woman to be an actual homewrecker (even though this manga is not doing it) and slut-shame her but nobody addresses the misogyny and just starts hating her (I'm particularly talking about Rashta if u know her) but let's not talk about that.
The ending you're talking about where she would've grown closer to Hara-san is actually not indicated about at all. Also Hara-san fell for Kaoru for his PERSONALITY not for anything else. So if you're saying that the red thread had been completely uninvolved or unknown, still Hara-san would have fell for Kaoru and he is not a cheater so they would've ended up together after meeting.
I would like to state again that the author has not mentioned anything about a "what-if" situation where Hara-san doesn't meet Kaoru at all. Actually in my opinion, if the red thread had not been involved at all, there would've been more of a chance for the main couple to end up together earlier because they would not have the hurdles that they faced currently. But if course that statement is purely my opinion, not the author's official take
Also I genuinely don't think that she NEEDS Hara-san to be happy. She is very capable as I mentioned, she doesn't need one specific man to be happy even if her red thread had connected to his since we already know that Hara-san's parents are happy without having their red threads connected to e/o.
Now I have a question for you, sorry for the long comment but I need to know this. Hara's parents are happily married and their red threads are not connected to each other. What if one day a woman comes along and her thread connects to Hara-san's dad. Do you think he should leave his beloved wife for the new woman who is his now soulmate?
Obviously not, also because this hypothetical soulmate could have a partner herself. But I can only be sad for her at the thought that she might be alone if she doesn't have the aforementioned companion.
Yes, I know that getting lost in the maze of "what if" possibilities usually doesn't lead to anything good, but I always wallow in it.
There are so many types of people in the world and I firmly believe that romantic love is not the only way to find happiness. Maybe it's just because it's what I want for myself.
The idea that there's someone in the world who's made for me, and vice versa, has always fascinated me. Also when it comes to friendship.

I know this will make some people angry, but I don't like how they dismissed the manager. What if Hara-san was the only one for her? Is she doomed to never meet anyone again? I just find it very sad.
