THANK U FOR SAYING THIS bc i didn’t even notice it but now that i see it… i did think tei’s father loved tei’s mother bc planting a whole tree to let her keep part of her country with her is an act of love. esp when tei brushes her off as being just a war prize and we have all seen how people of leracal treat tei when they thought he was booted back. but yeah i agree… which probably makes it even sadder bc tei probably sees himself in his mother (inability to acclimate to both the frigid cold and maybe even return the love sobs)

THEORY it is most likely Teis father LOVED and cherished Teis mother because on both paintings the father has his hand on both Tei and Teis mother's shoulder compared to the 2nd painting where he only has his hand on Tei on not the other mother. I mean this is what I'd LIKE to believe but bwat is known for this type of foreshadowing/subtle details. Master in "Show not tell" yk yk
