Wow, no wonder I feel manga in general are lower rated than Webtoon, even though they don't necessarily reflect the quality. It's like a 9.0 Webtoon is equavalent to an 8.5 manga.
I asked the reason why they prefer manhwa over manga cuz of coloring and big pages , tbh I love mangas more cuz I started with them in my earlier days. Yeah I do like manhwas but manga has different space inside me especially black and white I love feelings they convey, it's not reason to give manga bad rating despite being better with same concept in manhwa ...
I know rightt, I saw some ppl saying they don't like mangas because it's black and white and "boring"
I figured color is a big factor. The other reason could be length, because BL manga tend be short while Webtoon ones can go on and on. It's easier to get attached to longer stories.
It's unfortunate because I often use user scores as a way to gauge whether I want to invest time reading something, and I feel I often get tricked by the scores. It's not necessarily because of my taste may differ from others. Two series with very similar concept and quality can get very different scores just because one is manga and the other is Webtoon. I have seen this pattern so often that nowadays, I always deduct several points off any webtoon to get a more accurate user scores.
Personally as I m busy these days I prefer reading mangas over manhwas I miss reading manhwa's daily updates, manga sure can't explore much characters depth in 5 chapters but that's just few stories like this there many mangas who has under 6 chapters and shows the best one out there people hate reading mangas having small screen size I can get why and it's tough for new people who started with manhwas tu read manga for the reading direction confuses lots of people but I m m habitual in this basis for reading shifting my reading direction according to manhwa or manga. Mostly famous manhwas are not that good too plot they drag in over 80 chapters can be concluded into 6 chapter manga. ... Everyone has choices but i recently read new mangas which has best plot and beautiful art despite that getting under 8 rating shows how i don't trust unless I read myself
Exactly that "boring" wording they use on mangas they haven't read the best one out there yet may they get to read them one day moy of their opinion might change.
Agreed. I'm more of a manga person myself, and maybe there is cultural thing to it as well, so I find myself more attracted to manga stories than Webtoon. Although there are some Webtoon that I enjoyed, I gravitated more to manga as a whole. It's unfortunate that Webtoon has pretty much taken over this site, and most of them are rated way higher than it should be, in my opinion.
There are few good manhwas like barely some who are good but has 8.6 rating cuz audience isn't sharp enough to understand plot , overall yah i also prefer manga
Yup, I totally agree with all that was said on this comment thread.
There are some awful/mid or okaish manhwa with 9+ rating (be ir BL, GL, straight and any other genre) and some manga that it's a solid work under 8, it always frustrates me lol
It's so interesting because I usually read Manhwa when I don't wanna think or just pass time, on the other hand, I had to be free and focus to read manga.
