Wait is there more to tell about Duke Ergi’s life cause it felt like his life story was short and unexplained. What happened to him ? And is the story continuing?

Ok so I know that they already kind of explained duke Elgy's motivations which included revenge against Alessia (although i think they didn't even show her face), Sovieshu and mistresses in general, but in the novel there were around 10 chapters explaining Alessia's backstory. She was the daughter of some noble Eastern Empire family and happened to become the mistress of sovieshu's father. Still, she was somehow better than Rashta in terms of character and actions. Little Sovieshu resented his father for "replacing" his mother and he also had a bad relationship with Alessia. They would provoke each other and show off their own power. The last straw was when Alessia taunted little Sovieshu with a playful remark about giving him a little brother. Sovieshu took it so bad he incriminated Alessia saying that she was the one who gave him and Navier the infertility cookies (the cookies that he stole and shared with Navier, which were supposed to be a gift from Sovieshu's mother to Alessia in order to render her infertile and avoid threats to her own child and heir). Alessia was dragged out of her bed in the middle of the night by the guards and a furious emperor, and after being kicked out of the palace and going back home crying, she got betrayed by her own parents who gave her laced chocolate to make her sleep and literally left her floating in the middle of the ocean on a wooden plank titanic-style, where she later got abducted by pirates before being bought 2 years later by Elgy's father, who used her to replace his own sick wife. Now playing the part of a recovered wife and mother, she tried to genuinely win child Elgy's affection but he would rehect her and ask for his real mom. That until she went crazy and burned down the estate to "save" Ergy in front of every guest's eyes, including the Zemenzia family.
Last thing I remember reading is that Ergy's now elderly mother is still sick and confined in a shack to this day.
But I think after the sub plot of the Isqua lost sisters (Evely and Dartha) there was some plot about Ergy cooperating with Evely to bring his mother elsewhere by boat.

I'm sorry for making you read so much but it's really difficult to sumarie a specific oart of the novel when all the plots and characters are entwined so tight.
(and also english is not my first language, sorry if there's weird grammar lol)

Oh, forgot to add that after being "saved" by Alessia in that fire, Ergy tried to tell people that Alessia was not his mom, and that his real mother had been confined elsewhere. Those who listened thought that he was too shocked and traumatized from the fire, so nobody believed him except little Sovieshu. It also didn't help thay Alessia got her face scarred during the fire, so everyone pitied her and treated like a hero. The Zemenzia family was one of her biggesr supporters. (Ergy's fakily was from the Western empire, so it makes sense nobody would recognize Alessia, even more after all those years and the scarring.)

Yeah and she cries and begs for Ergy's affection even in the current time. Even his father blames him for being mean to her. In short, he blames Sovieshu for "sending" Alessia to his family and also hated Rashta because she felt like a second Alessia, an evil mistress stealing a man away, just like with his father. He still lived caring for his mother till the end, and even seemed to (kinda?) be in love with Evely or Dartha, I can't remember which sister was the one close to him.

Hey, thanks for this. I have been wondering how Alessia end up with Ergy's. I thought he has close relationship with Alessia and decide to get revenge after what Sovieshu did to her, but this is actual reason??? On my opinion, I don't feel need Ergy to have revenge for this kind of reason???

yeah I think so too, but remember that the story itself has always been that way towards "villains" that could very well be victims in their own pov. I don't think the author is really conscious of societal dynamics and how slavery and monarchy can affect people involved. So in the author's eyes, Ergy has the right to torment Alessia and Rashta because of what was actually done to them by kings and power, but their wicked nature is just the result of it.
