A few years ago, I started a conversation with a non American on here.
They kept asking me about Trump. They seemed to believe that ALL Americans were brainwashed sheep who supported Trump.
At first I was slightly offended and annoyed. But eventually I got over it. It is hard to truly understand what is happening when you don't experience it y for yourself.
And eventually, I even became grateful that sites like this make it possible for me to connect with people all over the world, people of ranging ages, with many points of view.
It gives me a chance to see how the rest of the world really sees us. Because that is not something China, North Korea and Russia can do. Their fascist leaders hide the truth from them. They are cut off from the outside world.
But this site also helps me be able to tell outsiders the truth. To make them realize that a lot of us here are terrified of what is happening and what we know is going to happen. To let people know that we are not all crazy Nazi's and that we are going to fight against this budding regime.
But most importantly, we just want to connect. To other people and cultures. With nations who have already gone through this or are living it. To give and take comfort from each other as human beings or to just simply have every day discussions that helps distract us from reality, even if just for a little bit.
For the dicks out there, go ahead, criticize and ridicule this old lady. But I truly meant everything I said and I don't regret it. Because today, the American youth restored my faith in humanity when they chose to walk out of school and protest ICE., my own teenager included. Thank you to the youth and know I have your backs!
