Love this author, hate this book

Lauren is the worst character I’ve read in a long time. He does nothing. Literally. Even if they get back together, nothing will happen. No one mentioned this has cheating in it so I got shocked at that but honestly, despite how much I despise cheaters, I totally understood where he was coming from. He put in so so so much work and got nothing so he cheated to see if that would do SOMETHING and when it didn’t, he just kept it going. I do wish he just broke up with him earlier but it is what it is. I initially thought this was ace but nope. Just mommy issues. Honestly, if I was married to her, I’d cheat and run off to the opposite sex of her too! She sounds miserable and is such a piss poor parent. I came out to my parents and my dad (1950s man) was like “and?” And my mother (Latin-African and Islamic mother) just asked if I have a boyfriend and if not a boyfriend then do I have a girlfriend and that’s it. I came out fully expecting that they’d be disappointed but I am an adult and they don’t control my life. I understand trauma from careless words since I’m a divorce child too but I would NEVER do what he did. Also that bitch who always took his side? I hate her. Being a good friend is doing what Jaqueline did. Being there for them but also telling them when they need to tighten tf up. Honestly I think I disliked every character except for her and her mother. I was going into this expecting that I’d adore it like I loved the other books but nope. So if you thought you’d like it cause it’s the same author, this is nothing like the others (in plot, art style or in characters).
