The author had to choose between this or a years long hiatus because of health issues unfortunately..
I'd honestly have taken the hiatus, but I hope the author is able to recover soon.
If it were up to me, I would also prefer taking the hiatus, just like how Togashi is with HxH. Some people probably prefer having conclusion no matter the quality, but I prefer having no conclusion than a botched one like this.
