I think it mainly related the fact that she lost her baby and it affected her health. We should remember she suffered physically as well as mentally that took affect in her health. I even vaguely remember that she can not carry a child anymore but I am not sure. I think the author wanted to keep things realistic and not give classic "happy with child end". But I also would love to see them finally happy , and their child would be soo cute.. maybe she would have got ridden of the guilt of her first miscarriage... they lived very heavy lifes..
While I love this story so much, I’m kind of sad that she didn’t end up having a child at all. I guess it hints that her blood origins would always be criticised and would mean that their child would be tormented by it all their life?
