What the heck. Why does he not count?? Why are you assuming he’s temporary? It’s heavily implied that he doesn’t plan to give up and will be back to cause problems later.
Plus plenty of love interests start of with just wanting something and develop into love ( toxic or otherwise ) along the way.
A lot of second male leads are never actually an interest of the FL these days. It’s just another guy that comes in and starts flirting or trying to access to the Fl.
Why are you assuming he’s temporary by the way? He’s popped up twice, hasn’t given up and the story is still ongoing. Did you read the novel or something? If so does he not appear again after the marriage offer is turned down?
Btw I don’t have any heavy evidences he WILL be back I just think he doesn’t care about her engagement with the prince and wants to be close with her in any way he can be because of her gift.

I still don’t care about the romance at all! It’s gotten slightly more annoying with a second ml even if I do laugh at how Sus he is. I AM having a great time still with her growing territory!!!!
