why do i feel like the devour nachal is maru's dad?

I thought so too at first, but he has the distinct memory of his father making him fight the devour nachal. Two separate entities. I think it’s more likely that the Nachal that was in the basement is his dad. Alternatively (or maybe in addition?), I think the devour nachal has his dad’s memories because he also remembers his dad dying in the mouth of the devour. Idk I feel like whatever he is is still different from the Eight altogether. The fact that the abyss is essentially a giant personified version of hell makes me think he might be even higher than the eight and that’s why the abyss is so determined to get him back.
