Whack as hell

I think writers should know this by now, but readers are tired of convenient time skips. The ending lacked the depth and impact that it could of had with pacing and relevancy to the story. He pretty much just became like Rouni Kenshin for about 10 pages, and taking in a random disciple that he didn't build any deep connection with...I couldn't make sense of it. I was prepared for a beautiful ending. Instead I'm left feeling like the story wasn't thought through sincerely by the author, and they just wanted to tie the beginning and ending together since we start and end by reading her letter to him. Reminds me of why people really hate the ending of "How I met your mother". I was reading other comments about how the end may be a fever dream, but regardless I feel cheated of the investment I had in this story.
