the joke is shin wanted a mafia daddy but got a CIA agent instead... the true story tho is that shin was ready to throw his whole life away to accommodate jake's gangster one- so many time he's said things like he'll go on the run with him if he ever needed to and "being trash together beats being trash alone", basically imagine u have an idea about a person and multiple times youve given them the chance to come clear but they didn't... essentially betraying their trust and also how embarrassing tbh. also, jake's big plan also involved shin so he lwk played him like a fool too, even tho he actually is infatuated with shin i mean come on now. imo a cia agent hiding his identity is a given, so that's why with all the hurt shin is also understanding?? that's basically it.
