You're right....! Those are some very keen observations on Suryeon's and Rosa's dynamic. Now that I reconsider, every flashback Rosa seems to have of her childhood seems like a perfectly orchestrated dollhouse playtime. The teddy bear, her clothes, her bland expression. And even her absent minded behaviour now. Suryeon seems to be the type of mother who wants everything to a t and maybe there really is more to this mother-daughter devoted dynamic. Which isn't familial love as we know it; even Rosa in the latest chapter can't really distinguish whether what her mother feels for her is love.
As far as Yeonwu is concerned though, to me, all the flashbacks to his host bar job point towards him being coerced or cornered by the Suryeon to agree to her terms. Something aggressive, unlike Yeonwu placing any type of faith in her.
We know Yeonwu never had sex with his clients despite his desperation (due to the debt), so that leads me to believe he's got boundaries for himself he respects no matter what. His agreement to Suryeon's offer/request... it probably has to do either with
1. who Suryeon is to him (since they've had ties back when he was a kid at the orphanage, but I'm not leaning towards a benefactor/motherly relationship, rather something more insidious, transactional, maybe even something that has to do with Rosa)
2. or with how Suryeon approached him. Yeonwu, being orphaned, might be desperate for a warm family, but I don't think he's the type of guy to jeopardise what he had with Rosa or disrespect himself to settle into a good life. Remember he refused Suryeon back when she was his client. And later on we see his boss beating him claiming "the lady was upset you didn't go to round 2". Suryeon likely pulled the strings from behind the scenes, and she's so rich she can make his workplace run out of business in a heartbeat. Then Yeonwu would have to deal with people manhunting him for refusing a rich lady and plummeting their business.
Yeonwu looked miserable indulging her in round 2 during those flashbacks and is even seen from his pov on his knees begging her. He's now likely trying to convince himself he's fine with their "agreement" and even getting lost within this lie, otherwise something important to him is at great risk.
Rosa's said before her mother's gone for all types of guys but never one quite like Yeonwu. I think the argument of a "perfect family" is only a pretaste to her obsessive tendencies like you said or maybe a ruse to another, more sinister intention. She definitely sought him out for a reason... And it probably also has something to do with Rosa, being part of Suryeon's vision.
Ugh usually I like characters like Suryeon but I just can't get behind sexing someone this young as a middle aged person with a kid, let alone someone you've known as a little kid. E.W. It's despicable. And I can't get behind privileged people exploiting the poor to satisfy their deeply personal twisted agendas or hobbies. And look at what Rosa's become because of her. Let power fall into the wrong hands and suddenly the world becomes a stage and the people puppets of sick perverted stringmasters.
Exactly! I totally agree! Actually this is what I tried to describe about Yeonwu when I said he seems to have faith in her... It's like he has been brainwashed by her and also sort of let himself be deluded in order to avoid the cruel reality...And for me chapters now I've considered both Rosa and Yeonwu as victims of the mother... Because it's very obvious and telling Rosa has mental issues that build up over the years and I am certain the mother played a part into that! I mean even the way her mother brought and introduced Yeonwu to her was very telling! Suryeon's personality is twisted beyond repair...Hosting these type of parties and interacting with all the corrupted 1% elite, using the boy you once sponsored in the orphanage as you boytoy, treating your daughter as a precious doll who you pull the strings off.
I think this will start going REALLY bad when Rosa and Yeonwu start developing smth with eo and she notices their behaviour going "off script".
Such a pleasure reading both of your guys analyses, you don’t find that often on this site unfortunately.
From the beginning, because of the synopsis, I knew that Rosa and Yeonwoo knew each other as kids but smth happened and they drifted apart. With time I started to believe that maybe Rosa lost her memories (of him) due to the accident she was in. But Yeonwoo still remembered her and smth happened to him that led him on that path of life and somehow he found his way back into Rosa’s because of Suryeon. But then we see that Rosa does remember him and is very angry with him, she said smth along the lines like: what caused you to go that way? So then I thought what if Yeonwoo lost his memories? Or what if, the accident was what drove them apart? They were in the same accident. Either Rosa was driving and he was the passenger or got hit, or vice versa. She didn’t lose her memories, he did, but subconsciously he remembered her and that’s why he did the butterfly and roses tattoos on top of his scar (that supposedly freaked his clients out and that’s why he had to cover it up). If he lost his memories. Or, the accident caused a drift and he didn’t lose his memories but always remembered and cherished her fondly and did those tattoos. Now after this chapter and with both your guys analyses, I still think either of those things happened + Suryeon specifically took advantage of the amnesia (or the driving of a wedge in their relationship cuz of the accident), targeting him specifically because “he was Rosa’s”. If Rosa wants things her mother has then the opposite is also very much true, Suryeon wanting whatever Rosa has. Unfortunately, there are jealous parents like that, that envy what their children have and those who can actively pursue to get what they have just so they can have the upper hand. So she had her eyes set on him. And that’s why she keeps insisting on Yeonwoo to befriend her so they can be “the perfect family”. She loves Rosa, yes, but she also wants to assert her dominance and power and let her know “who’s the boss”. That she won (Yeonwoo). That it will always be her and whatever Rosa has is because of her (photoshoots, company position, money, etc). But the whole “I’ve fixed problem children before” was another warning bell. She’s done this before, to Rosa. Maybe even Yeonwoo. Maybe she has that much power and connections that she hypnotized them both to drive them apart, or simply just took advantage of that situation. She’s definitely done *something* with Rosa and maybe even Yeonwoo and maybe even the other orphan children?
Hmm that's an interesting scenario indeed but personally I always believed that Rosa and Yeonwu only had few childhood memories together from when she would visit the orphanage before losing contract... However I do believe the scar Yeonwu has might have smth to do with her and her accident! Maybe even with the death of his adoptive parents! Sort of like fate playing tricks on them! As for Yeonwu's feelings about child Rosa initially based on past flashbacks I believed he only had bad memories like how she kicked him with the ball and told him his crying face looks pretty etc. But now showing him all valuable and her coming to mind tells me otherwise... Maybe they did end up growing closer back then...Also after browsing through past chapters he does shower her with compliments and genuinely seem to want to get close to her even under the pretence of the "perfect family". I didn't think about an amnesia scenario though... But yeah the fixing problem children was definitely alarming! I just think her mother is a control freak who wants everything to be the way she wants to a T. So it is probable that whenever Rosa would go off script she would pull the strings and manipulate her... So yeah I definitely agree about Suryeon wanted to assert her dominance over Rosa! I wouldn't go as far though to think of her ever touching Rosa in "that" way though... But yeah we will see! From now on since most of the groundwork has been set, each chapter will be helpful and telling! Cannot wait for next week!
No I’ve never gotten the impression of Suryeon molesting Rosa but I think she’s been extremely controlling, manipulating and maybe even brainwashed her. Rosa was troubled even as a child (kicking his ball just so she would see his crying face, that emotionless bland expression on her face) but under Suryeon’s care she’s become even more troubled, she could even be a psychotic monster. Regardless, Yeonwoo is the biggest victim and I feel even more bad for him with each chapter.
Ahh okay I thought you were referring to that! Then alls good and our thoughts align pretty well! And yeah Yeonwu is def the biggest victim... But one thing that bothered me with him is why put up with all this to this extend... But seeing mother's behaviour and his past now in the recent chapters I can tell a bit... He is just too far gone into despair, guilt, fear, longing etc. To actually stand up for himself and get out of the mess. I think Rosa will be that helping hand but since the author said it would be a slow burn I guess it will take some time... And I believe Yeonwu will also be the helping hand Rosa needs! Because Jaeon can do nothing for her other than temporarily push the problems away with sex which has no lasting effect cause Rosa doesn't feel anything deep for him to begin with! But that's different with Yeonwu ><
Yeonwoo is putting up with it because he’s incredibly lonely and desperate. He’s never had anyone by his side or been loved and cared for. He was an orphan for such a long time and when he finally found an adoptive family, they died and he inherited all their debt, and iirc I think they weren’t even good people? But I could be mistaken about that. He just wants to be loved and not be alone anymore so he’s desperate, it’s heartbreaking how everyone keeps using and degrading him, calling him things he’s not.
I’ve been hoping since the beginning that Rosa understands the distinction between bdsm/kink play in vs. outside the bedroom, that she doesn’t always have to dominate or degrade him and gives him aftercare but I’ve seen other commenters say that the author has said that Yeonwoo is going to get absolutely destroyed by Rosa and Suryeon (and the other women in this story) and that it’s not going to be fluffy or nice, and honestly Rosa really doesn’t give that lovey dovey kind of energy at all but I’m still hoping she won’t be that hard and awful on him after all and that she heals too cuz home girl needs help as well lol
Hmm actually I don’t think Rosa will continue treating him harshly once everything is resolved. Even now and from the very beginning she’s already gone through several stages. At first, she despised his sudden existence and intrusion as a whole. Then she became tempted and drawn to him and because of their shared childhood past, that eventually turned into her current obsession. If you think about it, the only times she truly gets sharp with Yeonwu rn are when he rejects her outright or when he brings up her mother and their relationship directly to her face.
Btw one scene that really highlights the stark difference between Rosa and Suryeon for me and their treatment towards Yeonwu is the party chapter. Rosa was genuinely relieved that Yeonwu wasn’t there and even when she did see him, she tried to warn him, yes harshly but the intent was still there. Suryeon, on the other hand, didn’t warn him at all and the entire situation was actually orchestrated by her from the start without even considering asking Yeonwu's opinion on it. Cause Yeonwu to Suryeon is a bought toy, leashed dog and still wet behind the ears boy...
What I personally hope to see later on is Yeonwu and Rosa opening up to each other more and offering each other support, while also learning more about eo and their kinks. I really hope that when the BDSM elements the author plans to introduce come into play, they’ll include at least a level of consent and understanding from Yeonwu as well. And yeah Rosa needs healing too and that means lots of therapy...Maybe they could go for couple sessions....
Yes and and amen to everything you said, I really hope all of this too! ╥﹏╥
One thought that occurred to me and I’d like to discuss with you if it’s ok! ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
The part where Suryeon drugged Yeonwoo again!
So we know why she (and the pharma lady) did that the last time. So he could “go play”. And since he’s loyal and obedient and has boundaries for himself, they had to drug him because otherwise, he never would’ve done it (not condoning at all what they did, that was vile, just pinpointing what they’ve done so far, might think, from their POV). But he came crawling back all pent up and that upset her (I swear, I don’t see him as a dog but to clarify once again, this is how Suryeon and the other women in this story view him). So she had to punish him, to teach him a lesson. Why drug him again? If she truly wants to teach him a lesson and punish him, so he obeys better next time, wouldn’t it be better if he was sober? Right? And after the times they’ve had sex, we’ve never seen her leave marks on him, but now he was filled hickeys, bruises and bite marks. We know that she has a little sadistic tendencies as well like Rosa because she slapped him once out of the blue, but so far, we’ve never seen her leave marks on him. So! What if, it wasn’t Suryeon that dis that, but the pharma lady? I wouldn’t put it past both of them to “team up/cooperate”, Suryeon drugging him once again, standing there, degrading him, while the pharma lady violates him. They’re super rich and powerful people. They can do the most heinous things. Dare to deny them and they can end you. The pharma lady must’ve felt incredibly humiliated because he denied her. So she took out her anger on him. “You’re saying no to me? Who the hell do you think you are?”. So by drugging him, yet again, they/Suryeon kinda “Pavlov’ed”/conditioned him. That whenever that drug enters his system he has to go stray/play/release his pent up sexual urges. If you’ve read POTN, when Seungho’s father wanted to “rehabilitate” him from sodomy/being a homosexual, they drugged him as well whenever he was forced to have sex with women. Just wondered if there could be a connection like that. Cuz Suryeon is malicious and callous and I think she definitely could do smth like that. I hope not for his sake. But she definitely could.

We finally got a bit more information about Suryeon and her so-called “relationship” with Yeonwu and honestly… it’s now crystal clear they’re not in this for the same reasons. Suryeon is exactly the psycho, creepy b*tch I clocked back in chapter 1! No sane mother would pull the shit she did on Rosa and the way she treats Yeonwu has never resembled anything close to a real husband or partner material.
Now switching fully into my commentary mode because this is one of those manhwas where if I don’t do this every chapter my thoughts stay completely scrambled lol
1. Rosa & Suryeon’s phone call
From their conversation it’s clear they used to be genuinely close even though Suryeon was often absent due to work... Despite that absence she seems to have kept Rosa on a "tight leash" . The fact that she immediately sensed something was amiss when Rosa asked for permission and connected it to Rosa wanting to stay out because of Yeonwu says a lot.
But I don’t think Suryeon knows what actually happened on campus or goes on between the two but she definitely knows Rosa is shaken because Yeonwu showed up there. Also I really can't understand her take on having a "perfect family" to me it seems like an obsession she has and as if she wants to play house with her dolls.
2.The mother–daughter relationship is…getting weirder. Suryeon casually mentioning she’s good at “fixing problem children” using plural and that she’s done it before is incredibly alarming to me. Making me think that could include Rosa, but then we also see Suryeon being strangely overprotective of her: clearing out the company when she became CEO so Rosa could manage it smoothly later on for example like Jaeon said.
At the same time, Rosa seems unusually devoted to her mother as well. Eating salad for a shoot Suryeon prepared, prioritizing her approval in everything and even earlier in the story, she wanted Yeonwu gone so she wouldn’t lose or have to share her mother's attention/affection!
3. Suryeon & Yeonwu’s “relationship”
I think it’s now fully confirmed what their dynamic really is to everyone. To Suryeon Yeonwu is nothing more than a toy someone to play house with, control and treat like a literal dog. The way she viewed the party as “letting him out for a walk” was disgusting. Letting him hook up with other women was fine in her eyes, just obviously never her daughter. Way to have your plans bite you in the butt without even knowing lol
I doubt she has any genuine interest in his trauma or even real knowledge of it. Yeonwu, on the other hand, seems to have placed his faith in her because he desperately wants a family and also obv feels indebted to her for getting him out of the host bar by paying his debt. But Suryeon is far too seasoned, manipulative and cold for that.
I really hope readers see it clearly now.
Deep down, I think even Yeonwu knows there was never love there. Watching her drug him as punishment, paired with those flashbacks from his host bar days, makes it painfully obvious this behavior isn’t new. At this point, Yeonwu is probably drowning in self-blame in a situation where he’s been the victim.
4. Yeonwu’s “toxic side”
As for the toxic side the author mentioned I don’t think we’ve seen it yet. I don’t think it was present much in the first chapters either. It feels like something that’s slowly developing recently and we get to see glimpses of. And honestly? I think falling for Rosa is what’s going to push him over the edge. The signs are already showing though.
At first, I assumed his childhood memories involving Rosa would be purely painful, especially since kid Rosa came off a bit unhinged herself. But seeing him envision her as a child while semi-conscious in that state combined with his past comments calling her cute or a princess, made me rethink that. Maybe she was part of the few genuinely good memories he still cherishes as well.
One last thing Yeonwu’s marks in this chapter looked way more like cigarette burns than hickeys to me?? Which makes me very curious about what actually went down the night before... Meanwhile, Rosa already seems to have misunderstood everything, assuming Yeonwu and her mom had a wild night together when she stayed out...
Honestly… I can already smell Yeonwu’s suffering coming. But I really hope Rosa goes easy on him once he wakes up and that we finally see more of his breakdown from last night. Please. No more misunderstandings. I’m begging. Let's clear the air a bit...
