I promise you, this actually HAS importance for the plot! (I wish I was kidding). The MC has some weird interactions in this first part, but it completely calms down, and the female character are greatly written (and respected), I swear.
The author is one of the rare male mangakas who understands how patriarchy works and impacts women, especially at this period of time, and he actually denounces it through this story. He writes really interesting female characters, knows how to write credible psychology, and his stories often advocate against child abuse, discriminations and violence (despite it being horror). He has worked as a social worker for a few years, and it shows.
So really, I would encourage you to push through it, there’s waaayyy more than meets the eye!
