This is an abusive relationship. I honestly would’ve been so happy if the story ended right after Clauden denied knowing Luan after he showed up all sad. It generally pissed me off the amount of times the main character kept saying, “I didn’t mean .” Like let’s be so fucking for real you did mean it, yeah, I can understand that you were lied to by a whole bunch of people, but to say that you didn’t mean to order him to be beat and dragged through the streets, and then not caring that he almost died, and then say well I didn’t mean it is a fucking lie. You meant everything you did and you gave no fucks about it until you realized oh shit, he was telling the truth.
Then Clauden stands on business, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVED, only for the main character to threaten him and drag him to his house by force. Like you can’t even remember this man properly but you’re telling him you love him. I swear that has to be love bombing. The story contained so many different manipulation techniques.
Oh, and don’t get me started with the Weaponized tears! I wish I could come into the story and tell Clauden that it takes more than four months, sometimes even years to let go of being in an abusive/toxic relationship. It’s quite unfortunate that he goes back to the main character.
I swear this is like the perfect story to give to somebody when they start questioning if they’re in an abusive or toxic relationship because of the number of manipulative techniques and red flags that are in the story. Be quite honest I’m at the point where I want most of these toxic and manipulative be our relationships to not work out. I literally read this and was hoping there would be no happy ending for the couple.
