How I got most of my Read or To Read Back

nerdandgeek February 6, 2026 9:16 pm

OK, so I am not an admin or anything of the sort, and most of this I did personally. I am no professional but I decided to post it here for the ifs ands or buts that it helps someone. (It's long, bear with me, please)

(Skip this if you don't want my personal opinion)
First, if the ones who communicated with the adminis are right, something crashed and we are not getting most of our stuff back. We may be getting some, but not in the right order or not everything. I have been in this site for 10 years and I don't know if it helped or not. But I was one of the lucky ones to get a lot of data back, not everything, and not in order, but a lot.
This "event" has taught me a great lesson, in saving everything. Now, since I don't really care about the order I read, or the time logs, and since I am an Impatient bit(h I decided to move things around. I haven't really written English in years, sorry for my grammar.

(Important stuff now)
Now, the ones that you may have to hurry and go back to do is the notification list. The thing is that if you have some manga there, with everyone joining and talking in the questions section, you will lose track on those woth every new notification, even conversatios. So go back and do it quickly.
♡ If you want to save a conversation you can like it and tag it as "Save" or "Important" and it will be saved there.
♡ My personal opinion is, if you want it in your notifications leave (.) as a comment, get a notification and mute it. Go back and mute all past conversations so that they dont push your old manga notifications out. If you want to ask something on here do so, but I don't think I can answer it professionally since I have no contact with the adminis. But I will try and others will too, I am sure.

I saw that in my "Read" list a lot of the titles there used to be on my "Reading " or "To Read" list, so I moved them back to their original list.
●If you don't remember if you read it or not, better save than sorry and move the to the "To Read" list l.
● Tag everything with simple tags, ex: Yaoi, Yuri, Shounen Ai, Mystery, Action. The rest will come later.
●Check every manga to see if they are rated or tagged, some are not rated or tagged, tag them again in the simple order above, don't worry about it you will come back later. The thing is even if you Read or before, it may not be rated or tagged correctly, I noticed some of mine had the wrong tags.

Now go to your lists, not the "Reading" or "Raed" lists, but the ones you made and the ones that you follow. Ex: https://www.mangago.me/home/mangalist/3326607/ (action manga list I made)

Most of the time we put those in our "To Read", "Read", or "Want to Read", so check those again and put them there. If you are not sure about what you had where from other people's lists then don't worry put them in the "To Read", better safe than sorry.

Check in your conversations, or comments in the past, there are some there that are not in your lists put them back in your lists.

Last, I noticed that I still have the people I follow, check those too, if they have some back, great, start saving. Remember we follow them because we have the same taste or because we are friends in real life and we share manga.

As a last resort so that we dont lose our data again: once you are done download the data, and uptade that data ever three moths or in a certain period if time. Here is a post that explains how to do it in excel, but you can do screenshot or other websites. Post: https://www.mangago.me/home/mangatopic/21023233/

Something like this is bound to happen again, especially with Korea trying to take out piracy sites for webtoons, so better safe than sorry. It's in their right since we pirate, but we don't want to lose our data, so.
