If you're also struggling trying to add all of your titles back to the lists - there's an interesting artifact I've found.
If you unchecked the "subscribe" button while adding a title to a list (before the purge): when adding that title back now, it should already be unchecked. That could be a useful clue when you're not entirely sure whether you've read a title before or not.
