I usually dont mind when the beta turns into an omega as long as Im not too attached to the idea of betaxalpha within the plot. Also I tend to be a sucker for the whole "alpha yearned so hard his pheromones turned the mc"
However in this case it feels quite cheap. I mean we've already been immersed into the premise of their relationship, and the mc's status as a beta seems to be a big plot line that I feel would have enhanced the strength of the story, and perhaps given it some underlying nuance in respect to going against social norms, and feeling unaccepted in a relationship due to certain insecurities. But in the absence of that dynamic, I really dont understand what effect the introduction of the premise of their relationship was supposed to have, especially since using this "beta turns omega" tactic seems like its gonna make any drama from here on out redundant and played out, when we could've had a really interesting, nuanced story with aspects of real life queer relationships imbued even more within the omegaverse.
Hopefully it'll be redeemed somehow though because I quite enjoy the nonchalant mc types, and the underlying dark feeling theme in their relationship that increases the tension within the story

I agree! With the beta x alpha dynamic the story felt like a really convoluted but entertaining version of internalised homophobia. The most interesting part of the story would'e been seeing how they overcome that barrier. but obviously the story has bypassed that instabtly by making the beta turn omega, and thats how the alpha will come to see the mc in a romantic light. Its like having a story abt 2 male characters then turning one of them female to solve the homophobia problem?

The premise of him being a non-omega is important emotional point moreso than in other stories, so i feel mega disappointed. But I guess the author's point is their relationship has been stagnant for 7 years so something needs to miraculously and irrationally change? I'm guessing the emotional conflict from hereon out is the mc is gonna struggle with his already fragile identity and inferiority complex and will feel insecure abt if ml only likes him bc he became an omega. Or ml is gonna really struggle with his budding feelings. Both of them r closed off to the idea of a relationship so this is like a wakeup call for both of them to realize the feelings that are already there, but its tangled up in pheromones so they cant tell if its geniune.

Just got back from the most recent chapter, and I have to say--your rendition of what might've happened is honestly so much better than the actual result. Seriously, if you haven't already, don't waste your time hoping for some substantial progress and meaning, because the story is not making great use of its nuanced beginnings
