True, but his body wouldn't be breaking down and he needs sexual release from another alpha. He's awakened but something is rejecting it. Or he was something else before hand

So I'm just assuming that Diego isn't meant to be and alpha. From what I've seen so far, he's been experimented on, he gets horrible side effects after using his powers or simply regenerating. So guessing he was something else originally.
