The ml is a ghost and mc is very hard to notice by other people (has a "weak presence" is what he discribed himself) by chapter 7/8 we learned that mc actually died a day before they went out on a date (cmiiw). And the rest of the episode is just them being a cute ghost couple together and then they got reincarnated at the end. its not that sad, trust me!!
