it's interesting how oedipal mother cases in history are often rooted in a woman's lack of agency during those times. after giving birth to a son they hinge all their self worth on them and act territorial, seeing other women as the enemy that exist to steal the authority they gained via their male child instead of the patriarchal system that robbed them of their personhood. which kinda makes sense for this character.

it's also why in the present you see normal parents call themselves 'mom' while some women caught up in conservative social circles & tradwife lifestyles like to label themselves 'boy moms' to emphasize how they integrate their child's gender into their own identity.
