Hey so i thought about it at work for the last two days and I came up with two conclusions:
1) the classics of sculpture, i reread the first chapters and its almost word for word what you were talking about but everything its very much in your face and i dont remember well but i dont think he was a neat freak
2) what's bothering the most.. I have some image of an ML being "rougher" and colder than the guy in the classics of sculpture and I particularly remember a scene in which MC steps away from him for some reason and ML was angrily like "why are doing this, do i smell"... AH I wish i could remember anything else oh my god its eating me alive

I know I have it in my list somewhere but everything I've read is under "have already read"
Anyways it's just kind of a side remark. MC since the moment he met ML always describes him as smelling really nice. But ML is like paranoid that he smells terrible and is a neat freak since he got bullied about it in the past. The author never really pushes it into your face that MC has unintentionally help ML by describing him as good smelling but it is very much implied even if you have a singular brain cell. It's not even the main plot it's just kind of something to help the reader realize they heal each other
