This story is written so beautifully, yet it is painful because the reality it reflects still exists in our world. You can clearly see why this work matters even today. It is not just a “doomed yaoi,” it carries political undertones, corruption among powerful figures, and the quiet protection of those who abuse their influence. It reveals how money and status can shield wrongdoing, how institutions fail the vulnerable, and how young lives are often treated as expendable in the pursuit of control and power. The tragedy is not romanticized; it is presented as something systemic and deeply rooted.

It truly broke my heart reading this. I had a difficult time finishing it because of how heavy it felt, yet at the same time it clarified many things for me about what is really happening in this world. The story forces you to confront uncomfortable truths rather than look away from them.

What makes it even more striking is that the author understood this nearly forty years ago. Long before many of today’s headlines, she was already portraying the connections between power, exploitation, and silence. That kind of foresight makes the work feel less like fiction and more like a warning that continues to echo today.
