i think that's the point of his character! he only went for people with no substance, which is why he had shit luck in love, because they all fucking sucked and didn't actually care about him lol it was a self-fulfilling prophecy of doomed love. He wasn't looking for the right thing and was shallow therfore, shit luck in love. But now that he meets him and gets to know him he changes for the better :D
So I get where you're coming from lool you're not wrong, he was an asshole at the start but that was on purpose! But if that turned you off from the story...understandable!

What’s the point of reading a story if you don’t care for character development. He ends up falling hard for the ML and sincerely caring for him. You’re acting like it’s normal for him to be head over heels in love at first sight when they just met and started dated smh.
