My understanding is someone who is described as green tea is a bitter bitch whilst a white lotus is often the one who got away.

Green tea means "Pretentious Person" it's like green tea, it is supposed to be good for your health but it doesn't actually testes like anything. Chinese people use it to describe someone who pretends to be good but is actually not. The closest Western slag would be "Pick me girl"

Lotus flower is typically found around dirt but it is pure white untouched by dirt. Chinese people call someone Lotus flower when a person is pure, untouched by dark surroundings and is genuinely nice. It is essentially a compliment, but it can also be called sarcasticly as nowadays people doesn't like "goody two shoes" type of persons and it comes off as fake. I think people think "white lotus" persona is bad because there are too many villainess protagonists nowdays and the old eternally kind fl or the "og protagonist" has to be opposite side so they make them evil afterwards, that makes people think this slang means something bad...

White moonlight slag means the one that got away. It is like you can always admire the white moonlight but you can never capture it, it is untouched by others desires and is eternally shining brightly. you can always admire it but can never have it. Most people think white moonlight makes the targeted person bad but in actuality this slang mocks the person who has a white moonlight. it is like ML has a crush but can not have them and the crush is always pure and perfect in their imagination . therefore they treat their stand-ins like trash and compare them to their perfect crush in their "Imagination". White moonlite doesn't necessarily means bad it's like you are someone's crush who you can never be with...or don't want to be with..but in manhuas they are always evil, again cause the protagonist can never be bad ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

anyway these are my personal explanation from reading manhua, danmei, Chinese novels for years...if you still want to know other slangs or Chinese sayings please let me know :)

omg thank you! you're the MVP... the culture is really ancient and deep so learning all these would take time especially how they evolve in modern slangs <3 still loving this work a lot, i like the FL she's not stupid and although she pulls tricks she's not truly evil or really saying im a good person, she's a bad bitch and she knows it

Tbh there's a lot of slangs in chinese and a lot of terms they use instead of explicit words to curse... so it's normal to feel confused..
The main difference between is that the green tea bish is more refreshing and pure while the white lotus is more pure and naive. It was originally used in a good way to describe a woman that overcomes adversity without being tainted since lotuses grow from mud. They are very creative with insults...
