I can’t help but wonder if Woohui really said “love” and not just “like”. Either way, she’s incredibly straightforward for confessing like that, especially after everything that happened in Busan.
Honestly I’m most curious about how Woohui will handle this rejection. What happened between them clearly meant a lot to her as she treats intimacy seriously. This seems like her first real love and different from what she had with her ex-boyfriend in earlier chapters. Jiho dismissing their first time as "a mistake" basically contradicts everything Woohui believes about relationships, so I don’t think she can or will just act like nothing happened.
I hope the author doesn’t make Woohui look desperate, clingy or pitiful. I’d rather see her protect her dignity and maybe create some distance, even if she’s hurting.
As for Jiho, I don’t fully believe she meant what she said. Her expressions looked strained, like she was forcing herself to act like it meant nothing. Maybe Woohui running away and skipping class made her think things between them would change (for the worse) or that she might lose Woohui, so she’s trying to preserve their relationship by denying her feelings. Another possibility is that Jiho has a lot of trauma from that past incident with that girl she was friends with and had feelings for. Maybe she's scared of something similiar happening with Woohui so she is trying to avoid her feelings altogether.
Either way, we’ll see if Jiho's “friends forever” really works, or if it's a mistake she will regret making.
