isagi, your future looks bright if you can get past this obstacle

i took a tiny break from this manga and i’m seeing isagi get squared and quartered. what in the world is going on.

ugh hugo’s unwarranted input is rly pissing me off? the hell is he telling isagi to be second best for? WHO ARE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU. literally the reason as to why he failed in the beginning was because he was a similar type of player that he’s asking him to become right? using his own skills & suppressing his desires as a striker to help his team succeed.

i don’t disagree entirely with what he’s saying tho. i just don’t think isagi has to be the one to do it. but i DOOO get it. isagi genuinely is the heart of bllk like it or not. imo he acts as a catalyst/fuel for the ego’s of others around him to flourish, so i def see where hugo is coming from & why he’s telling isagi this as opposed to a player like karasu but

blehhhhhh. i just dont like it tho. i also don’t like isagi’s mindset rn either. he’s not normally the type to just listen to what people are telling him. usually he would find a way to prove them wrong in a calmer, more calculated manner, but what i’m kinda seeing rn is a desperate struggle for perhaps self validation. i’m sure he’s aware that bllk heavily relies on him, that’s why he was kinda shaking w anticipation before the match against france. i’m pretty sure rin actually acknowledged him as well which is a first.

maybe thats why he’s a lot more shaken by what hugo is saying. because he himself knows it.

if it goes on like this & he becomes some kind of temporary pathetic loser who can’t evolve/strives for validation of his own belief system imma b so annoyed. i wouldn’t be surprised if ego subs him off. i think it might happen, but i may be jumping the gun here.

ughhhh i feel like this over dependence on isagi has been soooo maladaptive for his own development and evolution, causing him to feel as though being this glue that brings them all together is his role on the team. to be that pillar that everyone depends on. and now he’s facing the repercussions of his unintentional complicity with such a system ;(.

anyways,,, i’m liking that karasu is the one who is filling that gap & i can’t help but think that it has links back to that little argument they had earlier on. hmmm idk. karasu becoming the filling for this gap was def an intentional choice & planned choice in hindsight which makes sense to me.

but can a second best exist in bllk? it doesn’t align w bllk’s core value of being the singular best striker so im just thinking. i feel like it def would help w the structure of the team and this ‘evolution’ hugo was talking abt. but then would the values of bllk also have to be reformed and can you still call that bllk?

i feel like isagi is going to reach some kind of realisation. i hope it’s harsh and raw because he’s had too many highs, too many victories & it’s making him too docile & complicit.

in order for my goat to grow, he can’t take a rosy path as i learnt from observing my lovely yuuji

this current isagi is not my isagi.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLYYYY. like we didn't go through more than 300 chps of bs to see him struggle even after FINALLY being acknowledged, but to add on that, this is common in any person's journey to the top. when you're working up from the bottom: it's you vs. the world and isagi's already carved out a place for himself. being "above" comes w a lot of added burden and responsibilities, it's esp heavy on those who aren't accustomed to it, despite everything we need to remember that isagi is just an "ordinary" guy. this story is abt a normal person trying to achieve greater heights and that's what makes him so fucking relatable. thus, currently what isagi needs to overcome now is himself and rediscover his identity inorder to climb further, a pretty obvious plot device from a writer's perspective in regards to character development.

what's really gonna be interesting is the process, considering now that karasu has chosen to be 2nd best (which goes against blue lock's ideals) and hugo egging him from the sides. how isagi will resolve his role confusion and evolve will def be monumental to witness
