I agree with your take, to me pilsang is a more sentimental than jooeon but jooeon hasn’t actually made a clear line for their relationship in his mind. I think for pilsang it’s a fling he never wants to forget but ultimately he thinks jooeon is ‘too good for him’ so he’s just being grateful for the growth he’s experienced and enjoying his time with jooeon while it lasts but I think it’ll be easier for pilsang to move on than for jooeon. I really like him too
I have theory. Pilsang knows he love the ml, but he also knows the ml doesn’t really love him or in this case doesn’t know he actually likes him due to his ego. He actually fine with that as he contemplates. I’m thinking when Pilsang finally says I love you to him the mc. The mc think is just a game and Pilsang knows it something like that. And it looks like a Pilsang getting ready to leave in someway because he knows it coming soon and that when the ml will start groveling because what if Pilsang finally said I love you and then actually leaves for good and then the mc will debate over missing him and trying to find him Pilsang had the clarity of I love you but I can’t be with you, but I’m going to be slightly selfish for once for now. I love his character
