Hiii Kay never flirted with any of the women in the palace im crine and he never will. Kay is a very attractive and charismatic man in the women's eyes, which lead to them liking him. Kay was imagining zigril when he touched the maid's hair, even in the novel: "It was a sight he would never witness from Zigril. Zigril’s jawline and ears were elegant and smooth like white porcelain—but imagining those ears turning red… "

Kay is just so friendly to everyone but he would never cheat on zigril. In fact when the maid was going to confess to him, he felt uneasy and his first thought was Zigril and how Zigril would react/feel.

As for the betrayal, kay never outright agrees to it but he does stay silent many times. Cant blame him though after what zigril did to him, its only fair kay has thoughts of what-ifs involving zigril's assassination. However, even kay wont let that happen to zigril. You'll see him beg zigril to not die because they both cant live in a world where the other is no longer alive.

Hey, did Schumann really betray him in the novel, or was there a plot twist where he'll come out and say that even tho he practically worships money and all riches, he won't betray Zigril because Zigril pays him more, and he's just trying to lure all the traitors? I kinda like how spontaneous he is when money is involved, and he's one of the side couple, sooo???

According to both schuman and zigril (at the end of the novel), they both never considered it a betrayal because they never trusted each other anyway ಠ‿ಠ

“At first, Kay thought Schumann had betrayed Zigril for money. No—he had thought that all along. He didn’t think Zigril would actually die, and it didn’t seem like Schumann had taken it all that seriously either, but still, he believed it was a betrayal. If anyone could be blinded by money, it would be Schumann.

Schuman: “Who knows? If someone more generous and wealthier than His Majesty appears one day, perhaps I’ll betray him.”

“—Is that so?”

To Kay, that sounded almost like a declaration that he would never betray Zigril. Who in the world could possibly pay him more lavishly than the Emperor of the Empire? Even the small rewards Zigril handed out casually, like this time, amounted to a fortune.

Schumann was never someone I trusted in the first place, so it wouldn’t even count as betrayal. The only thing I trust is that he loves money.

To add, zigril was never put in any real danger and kay staying silent about the 'betrayal' worked out for schuman because he was manipulating the instigators into believing he was trying to kill zigril.

uhmm there will be a scene where a son of a merchant will try to assault Kay and Kay's first instinct is to fight him and run to zigril.

In the last act, Kay thought Zigril was going to divorce him because he didn't reciprocate Zigril's confession. Then when he was with schuman, Kay lowkey opens up to him about his troubles and schuman said that was nonsense. Tho kay will confess to zigril while begging him to not die when he thought zigril was going to be successfully killed.

And during that scene, the mirror of targo will be destroyed. Schuman will be one to gather the shards afterwards and this is the quote from the direct translation of the novel: "In the dimly lit mirror, Jigril and Kay were dimly reflected. Jigril and Kay were reflected in the mirror. Jigril and Kay were walking toward the gate. Jigril was reflected in Jigril's place, and Kay was reflected in Jigril's place." :)
