In the old design there was more contrast now it feels flat (colour wise)
hear me out i might seeing colors diferently(according to my arts teacher) but his new design just made him look more mature, i agree that he has a lil bit of blush blindness but his face features (maybe even because of color pallete change) just look more mature idk what u on obviously when hes older hes gotta be more "flat"
