As far as I remember, she was returning to her own world, to her sickbed, and she was given another choice: either stay here or go back. MC chose to go back and bid farewell to her father and brothers one last time quite emotional
It's been a while since I read this book, that's how I can more or less remember it.

I could be wrong in some details but, I remember her daughter found a piece of Leila's mirror. I can't remember if Penelope found her, was with her or she was called upon when the mirror activated and teleported Penelope back to her room in the hospital hospital (korea) where she saw her comatose body & confronted her og family. They saw her as " Penelope" and called security on her (￣∇￣"). Anyways like the others saids she refused to forgive them. To avoid returning to Korean again she unplug her life support of her comatose self this killing her real body or maybe og body. I think it is implied that her daughter activated the mirror since it was hinted several times, the girl has powerful magic.
re reading this again so is penelopesl's og life before she came to the present world js a parallel universe of her present life? also can anyone spoil if she ends up going back to her og world.
