There’s a lot of grace that’s never afforded for female characters the same way they’re afforded for their male counterparts. So many people who just keep whining about Sei, say a sweeping comment about “oh, I do understand her character though” and then go back to whining…maybe you’ve overestimated your literary comprehension if you’re getting so emotionally involved with the actions of a character like sei

ALL THREE primary characters are written to have faults, who commit bad actions as a result of circumstance and/or their own bad decisions…It’s much more jarring cuz woori shares similar character traits as her without the sad backstory

I mean, how can you say Sei deserved to be slapped because “well I grew up poor and I didn’t act bratty” “sangwoo has it hard and he didn’t act out”(he did…by getting physically violent with both woori and his sister lol he wasn’t keeping it together either). When the same argument could be made that other older siblings who too grew up having to become the parent didn’t need to hit their smaller, weaker, and younger sibling?

She was a young girl that wanted to fit in and join the trends of her peers because she was deprived of familial relationships at home. And her brother who also went through the same environment didn’t become like her and took initiative to find work simply because they’re different people, and different people react differently to same situations.
!!! and it’s just not thematically interesting to have 2 siblings who grew up in divisive circumstances to be similar to drive the plot. Azula and Zuko, todoroki and dabi, itachi and sasuke etc !!!!

That’s it. And that’s like the easiest and most understandable character motivation ever c’mon

I don’t see much criticism towards soobin for striking his sister and hiding the truth from her compared to the amount of criticism sei gets for acting out
Isn’t it only natural that she’d dislike her brother in these circumstances? She doesn’t remember the night her mom died completely, she only remembered how her brother pushed her. Soobin hits sei, and to her that proves that soobin is capable of physically hurting his family. Soobin made no effort to fix their relationship or let sei know what happened the night their mother died, but I see no blame placed on him. This clearly misogynistic.
