In the end of the novel, did they have a good ending like were they still able to start a family? Idk if that’s the right way to put it
i finished the novel but yeah no news of new childe because of the traumatic experience they had, riftan didn't want to have a childe or at least he doesn't want to put maxi at risk again because for him, maxi is the top priority

This is a very complex story that is definitely going to seem repeating/slow.
I believe she ended up having a miscarriage when using her magic to make the landslide, hence why everyone is being attentive/worried/extra kind. Riften (i think) knows of this.
His response will most likely be harsh, but it is going to come from being greatly concerned about Max (she was out for a week, reminder). He is also, possibly, grieving the loss of his child - He is probably holding himself responsible that she even faced events that caused her injuries / miscarriage.
