now that's a very pertinent and interesting question!! because they were "promised" since childhood to get married, but with a very specific status : suah as the omega and juhyeok as the alpha. right ? so their love was based on an ideal. it wasn't forced, it was just nourished by imagination and hope. And that is actually a common start.
but turns out, as every fairytale and ideal, the reality is different. the magic is in fact brutal. for me Juhyeok really loves Suah but repressed his feelings because of deception and how he stigmatized omegas. should I say his complex makes his love towards Suah very unhealthy. his hostility has consequences so Suah responds to it by defending their initial love with his pheromones. he's forcing Juhyeok to stay with him, to fulfilled his promise, to make their childhood ideal real no matter how cruel reality can be. being an alpha was torture for him too. but being an alpha, and one of the strongest is being privileged. for Juhyeok the loss is more effective : his ideal is crashed, but also he's an athlete so being an omega is a prejudice.
so for me (and that's only my opinion we can discuss it of course), Juhyeok genuinely loves Su ah but train himself to repressed his feelings or muted his love so only anger can talk out of shame. suah didn't do his pheromones things so juhyeok could love him, he did it so Juhyeok could never run away from him : that's fear. and so they developed a relationship out of shame and fear, that's why it's so unhealthy in both way. it's messy, troubling and confusing. morality is an endless judgement ! I saw the story as juhyeok fearing his omega body and hating it so it erased his feelings for suah and he just felt anger because he « made him » that way. But on another lever you’re right !! TYSM
