Alright, based on these types of stories, I reckon the ml just doesnt want mc to get involved with his current life. Maybe he is in a dangerous or unstable situation atm OR perhaps he wants his memory of her to stay pure after he became so jaded.
Other than the typical amnesia, if this goes in a different direction, then yipee it's something new!! Still tho, I do like the mc atm. She can definitely overthink and have worries, but she is still trying her best; especially for the person she likes. I find her balanced and quite charming xD
