It’s a bit of both. At first he only wanted luck, then he realized that Tae was really genuine and fell in love with him. However, the reason he kept going after Tay was also because he hated losing to Ilay. A question for those who have read the novel, guys Does Xinlu really love Taeui or he wants him for his luck or he just wanted to hurt Ilay by taking Taeui away from him? What’s his actual intention?
