Like you can have two manga with "fantasy" tag and they would be two completely different kind of manga. Sure there's some additional code but at this point BL and yaoi, GL and Yuri are considered the same.
Because you've read stuff that isn't like what you usually read. Describing this as "like yaoi" is based on the type of yaoi you read the most. For me, this is good yuri. But there's many types of yuri, just like there are many types of yaoi. There are many similar straight romances as well, this isn't type of romance isn't that rare.
If you like this, you probably just like mature romance drama or other yuri you've tried before wasn't that good or the wrong type of yuri. For example, both this and Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid are yuri, would not liking one say anything about liking the other? It's also possible your tastes have changed.
The point of that ramble was, it's okay to not like yuri, but if you like this one, it's not because "it's like yaoi." As for why, it's because there's zero gay men in this. That's the only connecting factor in the genre of yaoi. Therefore, this isn't at all like yaoi, you might just need to revaluate your concept of genres.
Wow, I read your message like it was a chat gpt response (￣∇￣"). I think you are most likely correct, maybe it's just because this yuri resembles what I usually read even though it might not be yaoi. I think I just like this kind of story and it doesn't matter if it's yaoi or yuri, but the thing is that I tried reading yuri before based on what I usually read, like fantasy or fury, but it was so bad and it had a high ranking to so ,ikd.

But I recommend you start by checking if something is tagged "Josei" or not. Not that something needs that tag, but there tends to be a huge difference between josei yuri and other yuri. Same with yuri written by women, it tends to feel very different from yuri written by men.
Not an argument of quality nor am I saying there isn't yuri outside of those categories you'd like. Just a strong suggestion based off of you liking this and yaoi, I'm pretty sure your tastes line up with those categories lol.

Why is this good like yaoi, I don't usually read yuri, I've tried reading it before and it's not my cup of tea, but this one feels just like a good yaoi, it's refreshing.
