Standing on business BECAUSE shes literally making the guy reflect. Shes not babying him anymore. And literally so what if she still likes him? Its the fact that even if she loves him or wtv, shes not gonna lose her self respect by being the one to do all the moves. Shes just giving him openings and if he doesnt take it, then sucks for him. Youre stupid to think if a persons emotions and actions are automatically equivalent to each other. She may like him, but shes standing on business by keeping her self respect.
Oh, I think you’re mistaking “standing on business” for instant emotional detachment. That wasn’t what I meant—and clearly, most people understood that.
She didn’t stop loving him. Not yet since she still have feelings for the guy. But she is aligning her actions with the boundary HE SET when he chose for them to be “just childhood friends.”
That’s why she refused the jacket and refused the empty talk he was gonna offer to the table. She’s simply not entertaining half-steps anymore and getting herself taken advantage of in return.
Plus, if you read it with an open mind, you’d immediately recognize the nuance in the situation, as this also mirrors our reality. You can def have feelings for someone and STILL enforce boundaries w/ them. Those two things aren’t mutually exclusive. And reducing—or oversimplifying—it to “she still loves him, therefore she’s not standing on business” blatantly ignores:
1.) The emotional complexity a person can have.
2.) The entire point of her growth.
