It's actually trying to warn the reader about what realistically happens to an SA victim. They have no place to trust or to hide because they feel 'ashamed'. It's so sad to see that someone out there is still bottling up their traumatic issues just because of their gender.
What message was this supposed to send?? That men are supposed to bottle everything up, never seek help and identify their abusers? We know that we live in a society which invalidates their trauma. So you know what would have been a good ending to this?? The mc getting revenge. Cutting their dicks off or something. That's what all rapists deserve.
